| The Putt
Powell Memorial Journalism Scholarship This scholarship was
established the Amarillo Globe News and the family of Putt Powell in
1996. Powell was a longtime sportswriter for the Amarillo Globe News.
Eligibility
- Graduating senior from within the 26 northernmost counties of the
Texas Panhandle
- Contribution to school and or/community publications
- Exhibit community service and leadership
- Maintain a 2.5 or better cumulative GPA while in college
- Major in newspaper sports journalism at college or university of
choice with intent of working in the area of sports reporting
